Un masclet desviado durante una mascletà impacta en el corazón de la Fallera Mayor de València, que muere (en el cor en flames) en pleno balcón del Ayuntamiento. Un suceso tremendo que los políticos intentan tapar con un montón de grandes eventos. Es el punto de partida de La Fallera Calavera, un popular juego de cartas que consigue hacer sátira de la idiosincrasia valenciana y que ahora llega al escenario, transformado en una obra de teatro llena de humor y autocrítica.
Del 17 al 27 de febrero, el XI ‘Cicle de Companyies Valencianes’ de Sala Russafa acoge el estreno en Valencia de La Fallera Calavera- Versió Teatral, una propuesta de Floc Teatre para la que se ha escrito una nueva historia, inspirada en el universo que en 2014 creó Enric Aguilar.

“Es muy curioso ver cómo tus personajes se transforman cuando dejan de tener dos dimensiones para tener tres. De ser ilustraciones en unas cartas, pasan a tener carne y hueso, a hablar y moverse… Nunca va a ser igual a como uno lo había imaginado, pero el resultado es fantástico, muy divertido”, comenta este licenciado en Comunicación Audiovisual, que convirtió el cortometraje en stop-motion que realizó para una de sus asignaturas en la semilla de lo que hoy es su modo de vida.
Aguilar conocía bien el mundo folclórico, al haber sido músico en la banda municipal de Denia y participar en las celebraciones de las Fallas, el Corpus, los Moros y Cristianos… Además, estaba impactado por cómo se había reaccionado desde las instituciones a la tragedia por el accidente de metro ocurrido en València.
Así que, como buen valenciano, su forma de hacer crítica fue a través de la parodia. Y la plasmó en un juego de cartas que ha sido todo un éxito, conectando con diversas generaciones, y en una novela juvenil.
Ahora llega al teatro con una nueva trama, situada en 2070, en una Comunitat Valenciana futurista donde ha resucitado La Alcaldesa Perpetua y pretende construir un imperio basado en el despilfarro y en grandes eventos, pervirtiendo elementos culturales tan destacados como la paella, que va encaminada a convertirse en ‘arroz con cosas’, algo que no puede permitir La Fallera Calavera. Así que vuelve del más allá para pedir justicia.
Le acompañan la Reina de Les Festes de Castelló y la Bellea del Foc d’Alacant, componiendo un trío de zombis folclóricos que necesitará la ayuda del público y de personajes tan icónicos como DJ Ximo, Monleón y sus Monleonetes, La Dama d’Elx, Jaume I o El Capità Moro d’Alcoi en una disparatada revisión de los rasgos identitarios.
Eduard Costa ha creado esta comedia, con la supervisión de Aguilar. “Ha sido muy divertido trabajar con el universo y los personajes que había inventado Enric. Pero ha sido un proceso laborioso, con 10 meses previos de investigación”, explica el director y coautor de la pieza, quien tuvo que empaparse bien de lo que proponía La Fallera Calavera en sus formatos previos, que ya eran muy populares.
“También necesitaba conocer mejor a algunos de los referentes de la cultura popular y del folclore valenciano que aparecían para poder hacer sátira y encajarlos bien en la nueva trama”, explica el director de escena y co-autor de la pieza, que compartía con Aguilar los textos que iba escribiendo para que supervisara que encajaba en el espíritu de su obra.
“Al final creo que hemos conseguido crear un espectáculo del que puede disfrutar cualquier persona, aunque no conozca el juego o la novela. Tiene muchas referencias a cómo somos los valencianos, a nuestro pasado reciente. En las funciones que ya hemos hecho en otras localidades para ir testando el espectáculo, vemos cómo la gente que conoció Canal 9, los personajes valencianos de final del siglo XX y la política de la primera década de los años 2000, se ríe muchísimo. Y en un momento como el actual ver a la gente divertirse es muy gratificante”, comenta Costa.
ESTÉTICA ‘BURTONIANA’, VESTUARIO DECONSTRUIDO, MÁSCARAS Y UN FINAL POR DECIDIR
Una de las claves del éxito de La Fallera Calavera es el cruce entre la estética de Tim Burton y la autoparodia valenciana. Algo que, a nivel visual, se refleja en el montaje mediante la utilización de máscaras realizadas por Lorena Comín. Así consiguen que los personajes se acerquen a las proporciones y apariencia de las ilustraciones de las cartas, además de aportar cierto toque fallero. Y logran que 5 intérpretes (Mila Fernández, Pau Blanco, Jano de Miguel, Myriam Garcés y Amadeo Llach), den vida a 12 personajes.
Otro de los aspectos destacados es el vestuario, una “deconstrucción” de las piezas creadas por Paco Monleón. “Fue un proceso muy divertido porque hizo los trajes de cada personaje y luego nos imaginamos cómo estaría, por ejemplo, el vestido de La Fallera, que llevaba 50 años en el mundo de los zombis. Así que lo fuimos rasgando, poníamos tierra… ¡Imagínate con el de Jaume I, que llevaba siglos muerto!”, recuerda divertido Costa.
También es singular la manera de moverse de los actores, influida por el mundo de la animación y de los muertos vivientes. La iluminación, la utillería, la escenografía y la ambientación sonora, con un número musical incluido, consiguen redondear la puesta en escena, que traslada al escenario esa estética siniestro-cómica.
“Fue una cuestión de confianza, Enric venía de un mundo totalmente diferente al teatro, pero confió plenamente en mí para construir este nuevo espectáculo”, agradece Eduard Costa, quien recientemente ha visto reconocida su labor con la nominación a la Mejor Dirección en los Premios Cinema Gavia 2022 por su trabajo en Johnny Chico, que en enero estuvo en Sala Russafa.
“La Fallera Calavera nació como una historia transmedia. De hecho, empezó como un corto, tuvo su versión como juego de cartas, ha sido también una novela. Cuando me llegó la propuesta de Floc Teatre para llevarla al escenario no lo dudé”, recuerda Aguilar, quien está convencido del que va a gustar a fans y a profanos.
Durante dos semanas podrá disfrutarse de este espectáculo que se dirige tanto a adultos, quienes podrán captar la mayoría de las referencias sociales y políticas, como a adolescentes que siguen a esta Fallera zombi y justiciera. Además, se mantiene cierto el espíritu interactivo, haciendo que sean los propios espectadores quienes decidan el final de la historia, escogiendo entre tres cartas que llevarán a resoluciones muy distintas de esta historia.
